The Indian Under-17 women’s national team have gathered in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand for a preparatory camp which is being held in preparation for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup – set to be held in India later this year.
The Indian women’s football team head coach, Thomas Dennerby on Tuesday named 33 players for a national coaching camp, with the Englishman including 12 youngsters from the side that won the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship title earlier this year.
The India Under-17 women’s team will be training in Jamshedpur with logistical and infrastructural aid from the Government of Jharkhand along with Tata Steel.

The world football governing body, FIFA had on 13 April announced that the draw for the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held on June 24, while also confirming on the three Indian cities that will host the tournament.
The 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in India with Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai are the cities chosen to host the games. Other than India, six countries have been confirmed for the tournament – Brazil, Chile, China PR, Colombia, Japan and New Zealand. Meanwhile, 16 teams are set to compete in the tournament, meaning that several spots are still up for grabs.
Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium, Goa’s Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium were announced as the three venues as the organising authorities came to the conclusion that these three cities would be the best to ensure the safety of players involved and the other participants in the tournament.
The 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place between 11-30 October later this year.
