The move brings a protracted saga to an end. As 90min reported back in December, Martial’s high wages were always going to make a transfer difficult and the player has agreed to waive a portion of his salary in order to force the deal through. However, the agreement does not include an option to buy.
On Tuesday 90min reported that the player would travel to Seville for his medical and he has now been pictured touching down at a local airport. Provided everything goes smoothly he should be confirmed as a Sevilla player imminently.
Juventus had been interested in signing Martial and even prepared a bid when they learned the extent of Federico Chiesa’s ACL injury. The player always favoured a move to Julen Lopetegui’s side though, who are currently chasing down La Liga leaders Real Madrid.
Martial has barely featured for United this season with the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho forcing him down the pecking order. Overall he has made just 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
