Antonio Conte jokes he’d play Harry Kane with ‘one leg’ – XenBet

Antonio Conte has joked he would play Tottenham striker Harry Kane with one leg amid concerns over an injury.

Kane was instrumental in Spurs’ 3-2 victory at Manchester City on Saturday night, scoring twice including a last-gasp winner in injury time.

Tottenham are back in action on Wednesday night when they face Burnley as they look to close the gap on the Champions League qualification places, and Conte has revealed the England captain took a slight knock to the back but is fine to play.

He said: “Harry had a hit on his back but he has to play. Even if he has one leg, he has to play. He is good. Harry knows his importance to the team.

“There’s a sporting direction in Italy that’s my friend. His name is Pantaleo Corvino. He says you can make mistakes about your wife but not about the striker or the goalkeeper. For me, this is the best quote to understand football.”

Midfielder Oliver Skipp will miss out again after he suffered an infection during his rehabilitation, while Conte also confirmed defender Japhet Tanganga will not be available.

He added: “Skipp and Tanganga, they are recovering. They’re not ready, they’re still not ready for the game against Burnley. Sergio, in the training session yesterday he wasn’t present and we’ll see today. I think the situation is the same after the last game. We hope they can all recover soon.”

Tottenham can go level on points with Arsenal – who play fellow European competitors Wolves on Thursday – with victory at Burnley on Wednesday.
