Barcelona offer improved contract to Ronald Araujo – XenBet

Barcelona have improved their offer of a new contract to centre-back Ronald Araujo but may have to do more to convince the defender to stay.

Araujo has already rejected the club’s opening proposal but he does want to stay at Camp Nou and is prepared to lower his salary demands somewhat to help facilitate a deal.

The Uruguayan has 18 months left on the contract he signed before breaking into the first team and has plenty of suitors in the Premier League. Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are all reported to be willing to meet his wage demands but the 22-year-old would prefer Barça to do so.

According to Sport, Barcelona have upped their first offer to try and prove to Araujo that keeping him around is their top priority, but the defender is not thought to be happy with the terms on the table.

For Araujo, the most important thing is feeling valued by his club and he wants the Blaugrana to offer him a contract which pays him like one of their best defenders and an integral part of the future. As a young defender with lots of high-level experience, Araujo knows his worth and wants Barcelona to appreciate that.

However, the club’s offers to him have kept Araujo towards the bottom of the earning charts and the defender does not think that is fair, given he has been one of the team’s top performers this season.

Another meeting is scheduled and the two parties hope to try and thrash out an agreement in the near future. Araujo is doing what he can to help but with Barcelona pledging to spend millions on Erling Haaland and a handful of other signings, he is not prepared to accept a comparatively small wage.

Barça want Araujo’s future wrapped up before Easter, ensuring he does not hit the summer market with just 12 months left on his deal.
