Douglas Costa to be unveiled as LA Galaxy player this week – XenBet

Brazil international Douglas Costa will be announced as a LA Galaxy player this week.

The 31-year-old was most recently on loan with Gremio in his homeland but was part of a team that suffered relegation to the Brazilian second tier.

Costa’s contract with parent club Juventus doesn’t expire until June 2023 but he no longer features in the Old Lady’s plans, with the Galaxy long rumored to be his next destination.

On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano posted a video from Costa on his social media, with the Brazilian saying: “Hey Fabrizio, here we go my friend. Are you ready?”

Romano captioned the tweet, saying: “Douglas Costa’s coming to LA Galaxy, here we go.

“Six month loan from Juventus plus one-and-a-half-year contract to be signed in the next hours. Official announcement expected this week for [the] Brazilian winger to join Los Angeles Galaxy.”

The Galaxy have since teased a new signing on their own Twitter page.

Upon joining, Costa will instantly become one of the biggest names currently playing in MLS and would join Mexico record goalscorer Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez in a star-studded LA attack.

Across a glittering career, the winger has turned out for European powerhouses Juventus and Bayern Munich, as well as Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, and has been part of title-winning sides for all three.

At international level, Costa has 31 senior caps to his name for Brazil, scoring three times and helping the Seleção to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2018.

After missing out on the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2021, the Galaxy have been busy restructuring their roster ahead of the new season. The club recently acquired midfielder Marky Delgado from Toronto FC and re-signed Spanish playmaker Victor Vazquez.

LA also have an open Designated Player (DP) spot following the departure of Mexican midfielder Jonathan dos Santos, which will be taken up by Costa.
