Gianluigi Buffon would ‘seriously consider’ MLS move – XenBet

Legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon would ‘seriously consider’ a move to MLS, sources tell 90min.

Despite turning 44 in January, Buffon is still going strong in the Italian second tier with Parma, keeping seven clean sheets in 21 Serie B appearances with his team sat 13th in the table.

Buffon’s affiliation with Parma stretches all the way back to 1991 during his days in the club’s academy. However, last month, rumors emerged that the goalkeeper could leave I Crociati in order to pursue one final experience abroad.

Naturally, MLS was suggested among a list of possible destinations for Buffon. A source close to the player has told 90min that no clubs have yet been forthcoming, but that ‘a new experience in the USA would be seriously considered’.

If he were to move Stateside, Buffon would bring 27 years of experience in the professional game with him having made his senior Parma debut in the 1995/96 season. Since then, he’s notched up over 950 club appearances.

Between 2001 and 2018, ‘Gigi’ won 10 Serie A titles with Juventus while helping the Old Lady to three Champions League finals, though he didn’t manage a winners’ medal. The goalkeeper also won a Ligue 1 title with PSG in 2019.

At international level, Buffon picked up 176 caps for Italy – at least 40 more than any other player in the nation’s history – and was part of the Azzurri side that won the World Cup in 2006.
