Philadelphia Union complete signing of Danish striker Mikael Uhre – XenBet

The Philadelphia Union have completed the signing of striker Mikael Uhre from Danish side Brondby IF.

Uhre joins the Union as a Designated Player (DP) on a contract through 2024 with an option for 2025, the club announced on Thursday.

“We have been following Mikael for some time as he has developed and risen through the Danish Superliga, and we are excited to complete this deal to bring him to the Union,” sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a release.

“We are always looking for ways to improve the quality of our roster and we believe Mikael, having become a top player in Denmark, is a good fit for our system and will be an integral piece in our continued growth as a club. We are looking forward to welcoming him as we build on the success of last year and turn our attention to the 2022 season.”

Uhre joins the Union off the back of a stellar 2020/21 campaign in Denmark, in which he scored 19 goals in 34 appearances to win the Superliga golden boot and help Brondby to the title. He was also named the league’s player of the year.

At international level, Uhre picked up his first senior cap in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Scotland in November.

His arrival marks the latest step in a busy offseason for the Union and Uhre will now replace Kacper Przybylko at the point of Jim Curtin’s attack following the Polish striker’s departure to the Chicago Fire earlier this week.
