Rodrygo admits he was ‘nervous’ before brace against Man City – XenBet

Rodrygo has admitted that he was ‘a little nervous’ before he came on to bag a game-saving brace for Real Madrid in their Champions League semi-final second leg win over Manchester City.

Real seemed to be heading out after Riyad Mahrez’s second-half strike put City 5-3 up on aggregate. However, Rodrygo somehow scored twice in the 90th and 92nd minutes to send the match to extra time.

In the additional period, Karim Benzema then won and converted a penalty to book Real’s place in the final against Liverpool in Paris at the end of the month.

Speaking at full-time, Rodrygo revealed that he was feeling tense when Ancelotti told him he was coming on in the second half of normal.

“I was a little nervous but I was concentrating on the bench to spot weaknesses in their defense and scored two goals,” he admitted. “It’s always very hard to watch the games from the bench.”
