Swapan Sadhan Bose re-elected as president of Mohun Bagan; returns after a gap of 5 years – XenBet

Swapan Sadhan ‘Tutu’ Bose was re-elected as as the president of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club at its executive committee meeting on Wednesday, with the veteran administrator returning back to the helm after a gap of five years.

Bose who was first elected as the president of Mohun Bagan back in 1989-90, remained as the president for a staggering 28 years before stepping down in June 2017 due to “health reasons”.

It was understood that the likes of Mohun Bagan legend, Subrata Bhattacharya was also in the running for the post of the president, but all speculation was put to rest after Bose’ appointment was confirmed.

“I am old and battling many ailments but with the love and affection of the club members and supporters for whom I am always the evergreen youth, I shall continue to serve the club with all dedication. I convey my love and best wishes to everyone,” Bose said in a statement.

Founded in 1899, Mohun Bagan is one of the oldest football institutions in Asia and was renamed as ATK Mohun Bagan in 2020 following the merger which enabled it to play in the Indian Super League (ISL).
