WSL Player of the Season and Manager of the Season nominations – 2021/22 – XenBet

Sam Kerr, Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead headline a nine-player shortlist for the Barclays WSL Player of the Season award, with Emma Hayes, Jonas Eidevall and Rehanne Skinner up for the Manager of the Season gong.

The 2021/22 season concluded in dramatic fashion on Sunday as Chelsea came from behind to beat Manchester United, clinching the WSL title ahead of Arsenal.

The turnaround for Chelsea was spearheaded by golden boot winner Sam Kerr, who is nominated after picking up the FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year award. Teammates Guro Reiten, who managed 12 goal involvements, and Jess Carter, who emerged as one of the league’s best centre-backs despite previously being known as a winger and full-back, are also shortlisted.

They are joined by Arsenal duo Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead – the former finishing second to Kerr in the Golden Boot race and level with league-leading Mead on assists.

Manchester City duo Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp, the WSL’s top scoring English player this season, also make the cut, as do Manchester United star Ella Toone and Tottenham full-back Ashleigh Neville.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is unsurprisingly up for the manager’s award after leading the Blues to yet another title. Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall is also in contention for the honour after taking the title race to the final day, while Tottenham boss Rehanne Skinner is recognised for leading her side to their best ever season.

In addition to the Barclay’s gongs, the end of season individual prizes also include the FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year – won by Kerr – the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Year – which you will be able to vote for exclusively on 90min.
